Accessibility Statement
1. Introduction
The BWH Hotels Central Europe GmbH is committed to making its website and mobile applications accessible in accordance with legal requirements.
The accessibility requirements are based on the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG), in particular § 14 BFSG in conjunction with § 3 para. 1 BFSG, as well as the underlying regulation on the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSGV).
The specific technical measures are based on the guidelines of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 with conformance levels A and AA. This accessibility statement applies to the websites bestwestern.de, bestwestern.at, and bestwestern.ch.
2. Status of Accessibility
This website is partially accessible, as not all requirements are fully met.
3. Non-Accessible Content
a) Technical barriers:
- iFrames without titles: Embedded content (e.g., maps, external videos) lacks descriptive titles for screen readers.
- iFrames for third-party content: These are not always accessible and are beyond our control.
- Incorrect or missing HTML structure: The page structure sometimes uses heading levels without a logical order. This makes navigation especially difficult for users of assistive technologies. We are working to close these gaps.
- Captcha systems without accessible alternatives: Some forms use visual captchas without an audio alternative (e.g., Rewards account registration). We are working on an alternative.
- Some content, such as embedded maps (Google Maps) or image galleries, is displayed in so-called “lightboxes” on our website. These interactive windows are currently not fully accessible. We are working to make these features accessible in the future. As a transitional solution, we provide all content (e.g., addresses, directions, image captions) additionally in text form or send it upon request.
b) Content-related barriers:
- PDF and Office documents are not accessible (missing tags, poor structure, non-accessible tables).
d) Disproportionate burden:
According to Article 5 of Directive (EU) 2016/2102, certain content may be exempt due to disproportionate burden. Despite our efforts, we are currently unable to offer the following content in a fully accessible format:
- Older PDF documents and Office files:
Many PDF documents and Word files published before 28/06/2025 are not accessible. These documents may lack proper structure, sufficient alternative text for images, or contain complex tables that cannot be revised in the short term without additional resources. - New documents are provided in an accessible format whenever possible.
- If you need a specific document in an accessible version, please contact us.
